OUTLINE AGREEMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

THE DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOBIOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF CALABRIA

(hereinafter referred to as University of Calabria)

 

and

 

THE INTERNATIONAL BRAIN RESEARCH ORGANIZATION (IBRO)

(hereinafter referred to as IBRO)

 

(each also refereed to as “Party” or collectively as “Parties”)

 

The University of Calabria, with official domicile in Rende – 87036, Via Pietro Bucci, fiscal code n. 80003950781, P.I. 00419160783, represented by the Rector, Prof. Giovanni Latorre. In the present agreement University will operate through the Department of Pharmacobiology, represented by the Director, Prof. Marcello Maggiolini, with domicile in Rende, Via Pietro Bucci.

IBRO, with official domicile in. 255 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, France represented by Prof.. Pierre Magistretti (IBRO Secretary General)

The object of IBRO is to foster throughout the world fundamental scientific research contributing to an understanding of the nervous system. Its aim is to develop, support, co-ordinate and promote scientific research and education in all fields of neuroscience worldwide.

 

The Department of Pharmacobiology at the University of Calabria has experience and expertise in the field of neuroscience and is willing and able to contribute to the advancement of neuroscience in all aspects that involve international relations.

 

The Department of Pharmacobiology at the University of Calabria promotes international co-operation in research, publication and dissemination of knowledge in neuroscience

 

the Parties stipulate and agree as follows

 

Article 1 – Subject matter of the contract

 

The University of Calabria, Department of Pharmacobiology, and the IBRO with the present agreement undertake to develop, support, co-ordinate and promote scientific research in all fields concerning the nervous system; to promote international collaboration and exchange of scientific information on brain research throughout the world; and to provide for and to assist in education and dissemination of information related to brain research by all available means.

 

Article 2 – Project

 

A training program for selected young investigators from Countries with limited resources will arrange, on the occasion of the 8th IBRO World Congress of Neuroscience in July 2011, one-month stays in European Laboratories and, in this context, in laboratories of the Department of Pharmacobiology of the University of Calabria. This training will allow the guest young investigators to meet senior and junior scientists and get familiar with the laboratory’s environment, facilities and techniques in different fields of brain research, to favour future exchanges and networking.

 

Article 3 - Representatives

 

The University of Calabria designates Prof. Giacinto Bagetta as its own representative, the IBRO designates Prof. Marina Bentivoglio as its own representative.

In case one of the parties should replace the person in charge of the project, the other party must be notified with a written communication.

The representatives will arrange the activity programme and the funding and will verify the fulfilment of the objectives of the present Agreement.

 

Article 4 – Financial charges

 

Own financial charges to develop the research activity of the collaboration programme will be supported by each party. Specifically, in the case of the Young Investigator Visiting Program, IBRO will award travel fellowships of young scientists to reach Italy from their home/residence country as selected by its ad hoc commettees and within the allotted budget established by IBRO. The representative of University of Calabria, Prof. Giacinto Bagetta, through the Department of Pharmacobiology, will cover lodging and board for guests of the Investigator Visiting Program.

No activity shall be carried on without the necessary financial support.

 

 

Article 5 - Insurance coverage

The University of Calabria guarantees employer’s liability insurance and civil liability insurance to all of the personnel involved in activities regarding the present agreement, including foreign PhD students, graduates or collaborators.

 

Article 6– Prevention, safety and health provisions

 

Employee and personnel of the Parties must respect the provisions concerning the protection of health and security of workers of the host institute.

 

Article 7– Duration of agreement

 

This Agreement shall enter into force and be binding upon the parties hereto for a period of two year from the date of its signing and is renewable upon written mutual consent approved by the academic/ authorities

 

Article 8– Withdrawal and cancellation

 

The parties can withdraw from the present agreement or can rescind the agreement by mutual consent; the parties can withdraw with a written registered letter prior to 6 months.

Withdraw or cancellation by mutual consent have effect only for the future and don’t draw on the agreement already performed.

 

Article 9– Disputes

 

Any disputes arising from the interpretation and implementation of the present Agreement will be brought before the designated representatives of the two Institutions, who will resolve it in a spirit of cooperation.
